Natural Area Rug Cleaning
Have you ever been into a model home and marveled over their perfect floors? Even the rugs are
flawless despite receiving a lot of traffic from visitors. They also look brand new even if they’ve been
around for several years.
Yet, in reality anyone can make their area rugs look like those found in model homes, with our
professional help. It doesn’t matter whether you have a simple area rug or something more complex like a
Persian rug or an Oriental carpet. What matters is the type of upkeep you use.
Periodic areav rug cleaning is very important for maintaining the health of your rug. Depending on
the amount of foot traffic, it is recommended to have your Oriental rugs, Persian carpets, Shags, Kilims
(also spelled gilims, or Kelims are rugs without pile) cleaned every other year. If you want your rugs to
look more glamorous, you’re going to have to consider expert rug cleaning every year. With our professional
natural rug cleaning, your rugs get cleaned with specialized tools and techniques… things that are not
accessible for the average person.
At A1 Sparkles, we do not use any toxic chemicals to clean your rugs,
as they can damage the fiber/wool and can cause color loss. Most rugs are made from wool which in
itself is natural, therefore using all natural products only makes sense, and produces excellent results. Our
special rug cleaning techniques and equipment deep clean every area of your Oriental carpets; and, due to the
mechanics of the procedure, we clean Oriental carpets and area rugs without harming their structure. When we
are finished cleaning your rug, your rugs will look just like they did the day you bought them.
If you want your area rugs to look like the ones in
most model homes, you need to consider getting our professional rug cleaning services. You don’t have to do
it everyday… once a year or every other year is enough, unless you have a severe accident in between time.
But if you don’t do it at all, your rug will prematurely wear and be quite sub par when it comes to its
aesthetic quality.
To fit your budget and solve
dirty rug problems we offer two types of rug cleaning services. Our in house freshen up is for area rugs
that do not require a heavy duty cleaning. This service is not recommended for heavily soiled rugs,
pet stains, odors, or rug that have not been cleaned in the last two years. Our pick up and delivery
service is for the deepest cleaning available. We can even bath your valuable rug in an enzyme tub to
remove odors and deep down dirt.
We guaranty our natural rug cleaning is the best package in the Philadelphia area!

before
the wash process. Damaged or structurally weak areas are bound and protected. Bleeding and color loss is
checked for a minimum of 24 hours before washing.

possible.
3.
Washing -Depending on the fiber type/weave and condition rugs preconditioned with
an organic safe pre treatment.
Pet stains and odors receive extra attention; however rugs with these

and agitation.

simultaneously extracting any dirt and soil. Two passes are done to ensure maximum

Our
Exclusive 5-Step Pick Up & Delivery Rug Washing Process
- Inspection
and Testing
Every rug, no matter how large or small, is thoroughly inspected for areas of concern before the wash
process. Damaged or structurally weak areas are bound and protected. Bleeding and color loss is checked
for a minimum of 24 hours before washing.
- Dusting
This is impressive - no more hanging rugs over the clothesline and beating them with a broom! Using compressed
air we blast out the dry soil, dust and dirt your vacuum can’t even begin to reach. Oddly enough,
compressed air is used not only to disperse high volumes of air under pressure, but also to create lift,
literally pulling dry soil from the rug. You have to see it to believe it! Using a high power
vacuum we then go over the fibers and backing to ensure the rug is free of dirt.
- Washing
Depending on the fiber type/weave and condition rugs are washed by hand in our wash basin and or ran through a
mill rug washing machine. In the basin the rugs are washed using totally natural and organic solutions. We will
clean the front and back while floating in cool fresh water. For pet stains and odors we may need to bath
the rug for up to 24 hours. Rollers and scrubber' s are used to flex and agitate the rug on a grid system,
releasing trapped soils to be rinsed away. Fresh water comes into the basin or mill machine at one end
and the soiled water is removed at the opposite end.
- Rinsing
For hand washed rugs rinsing takes place twice. The first rinse is in the basin, using purified water and
compressed air. The second rinse is after the rug is brought up out of the pit and is hanging on the
drying rack. Water is allowed to drain from the rug and then fresh water is introduced again at the top
of the rug. The rug absorbs the fresh water like a sponge. As the clean water moves through the
rug, it pulls out whatever small amount soil that might still remain. Depending on the rug and its
condition, this final rinse may be done from one to three times. For Mill washed rugs the rinsing is down by
jets that inject fresh water in to fibers and backing, while large rollers squeeze out and remain moisture and
soil.
- Drying and
Detailing
Freshly cleaned rugs are dried overnight. This is accomplished by turning the wash area into
the Mojave Desert... well, almost. In the summer months we like
to dry the rugs outside in the sun, when possible. Otherwise room temperature is brought up to and maintained
at 80 degrees. Numerous fans are turned on and strategically placed to move air through and around the
rugs during the drying process. Once the rugs are dry on the following day, the rugs are inspected and
may be cleaned again, repeating the rug washing process. Once they pass inspection the rugs are again vacuumed
and Scotchgard carpet protector is applied if elected.
